AuditMentor –Examples of Use

1. A large manufacturing company wished to develop the skills of a number of staff in EMS Auditing. They were located around the UK and it was difficult to arrange a suitable date for all people to undertake the training. The 3 days required for the training course proved to be a problem because of time constraints and scheduling difficulties.

AuditMentor was put forward as a solution to this issue, mainly because the training was delivered mostly on the web. One day was required for the practical live audit day, but this was far easier to arrange. Delegates were looking forward to putting their newly found skills into practice within an on-site training day using their own procedures and operations as the EMS Audit scope.

The web was used very effectively by the delegates and all 6 modules were completed within the 2 month period. Certificates for successful completion of the Internal EMS Auditor course will be issued once the live audit day has been completed and the examination marked. This will be carried out in June 2010.

2. Another large speciality chemical manufacturer has 29 production sites around the world. They wish to train 5 auditors but they are located in 4 different countries of Europe. AuditMentor proved to be an ideal training solution. As the web training together with the live audit day is approved by the IEMA, they had no concerns about the quality of the content or the tutor.

The training got underway and all delegates completed the web part of the course. The tracked quizzes were recorded and all delegates were required to successfully complete each of the 6 modules before commencing the live audit on-site course. Marks and all visits to the training course modules (time, date, slides viewed) were monitored and reports sent to the audit manager.

3. During testing of AuditMentor (Internal EMS Auditor Course) around 10 companies were given limited time access to all modules. The feedback proved to be invaluable in enabling the software to be refined and amended to account for delegates specific requirements. Some wanted improved visibility of slides they had already completed, some wanted higher volume to some of the video sequences that showed EMS Auditors at work.

4. The IEMA have carried out a detailed assessment of the web training part of the course to verify the quality of the web training course against their criteria for the Internal EMS Auditor Training Course. We were delighted to find that it was successfully accredited at the first attempt. Some improvements have been made as a result of this assessment, which has only further strengthened AuditMentor as an innovation in elearning solutions, which we are proud of.

5. AuditMentor is a web training course that goes well beyond the usual web courses. The knowledge-based components of the course are comprehensively explained on the web and a number of carefully developed exercises lead the delegate through the process of writing nonconformances. Skills developed from this web-training is then tested as part of exercises involving the preparation of real findings which are assessed as part of the web course. This goes well beyond a simple computer-based learning assessment. If considered appropriate, delegates can undertake a 1 day training course which covers the practical aspects of EMS auditing that is provided within the live audit training day. What better way to learn how to carry out an EMS audit than on your own site, using company procedures that are used every day by the site and staff.
